WWII

At the out break of the war in 1939 the Barn premises were taken over by the Ministry of Supply. It was used to house Italian prisoners of war. They carried out odd jobs for locals, they built a field kitchen on the bowling green and painted pictures of their villages on the ball room wall.

The Barn Social Club

In 1958 for legal reasons the club house and surrounding land seperated from the WDA and was leased from the WDA for a nominal rent until 2011 when it closed down.

1960’s land was sold to build the M6 Motorway and Brookvale village estate

1980’s Further land was sold for housing
